Natalie,
Looks like you have outlined a great plan! I’m quite impressed and am looking forward to hearing all about your accomplishments.
Given all this talk about our bodies and our plans, I thought I would share my New Year’s resolutions. I make them every year but usually break them. A couple of year’s ago, I decided I really wanted to work towards an attainable goal and not some lofty aspiration. I succeeded and I have been making resolutions ever since.
So my 2014 resolutions:
1. Run 500 miles.
Yes, you read that right — 500. I started jogging after having my Cricket and really got into it. I ran a few races, etc. but I stopped because I was pregnant and throwing up all the time (worst morning sickness EVER with my third). I decided to get back to it. As of today, I am over 130 miles in!
2. Read 52 books, including 5 non-fiction.
I love to read. It is something that I hope I can instill in my children the way my mother instilled it in me. Books are better than TV, better than movies. Last year, I read 52 books — it is a book a week! I had put down the remote and rededicated myself to reading. Don’t get me wrong, I still watch TV and some of it is truly trash TV (but that is for another letter!). Anyway, I was so proud of myself. This year, I added the twist of nonfiction because I tend to favor fiction. It is always good to get out of your comfort zone a bit. Oh, and kids books don’t count or I could be done in one day!
So, that is it. Those are my resolutions. They are both attainable – 10 miles and 1 book a week. They both keep me focused weekly, so I don’t get behind. I don’t put it off because another week is coming!
I am going to add a book recommendations page to list some of my favorites from last year. I hope you’ll check it out.
Courtney
