New Year. New Challenges.

This year we (Courtney and Natalie) have decided to share our 2015 goals with our Upside Down Family!

Everyone knows how easy it is to let a new goal wither and die a slow death. So to keep that from happening, we thought we’d share our goals with each other and with you–then each month one of us will check-in and update us on her progress.

In our personal lives, we’ve each selected three goals. But we’ve also selected two other goals, challenges really, to do together and with you!  Each month we will surprise you with one fitness challenge and one well-being challenge.  We invite you to do the challenges with us, and help keep us accountable!

————————-

January Fitness Challenge:   Run xx miles!

We encourage you to set a goal that makes sense for you, but really challenge yourself. Just started running? — perhaps yours is a run/walk goal. Been running? — perhaps increase your milage by 20 percent this month!

When you meet the challenge we’d love for you to post your success on our FB page (click anywhere on this sentence to find it!)– we want to see pictures of your progress and hear your stories!  That way we can all inspire each other to keep on, keepin’ on!

Courtney: Since I have been running for awhile, I am going to aim for 60 miles this month (averages to about 15 a week). I figure I can break this down into two shorter runs and one long one, but we will see how it goes!

Natalie: I have some other cross-training activities going on right now, so I’m going to set a more modest goal of 50 miles for the month.  I think I can find time to do 2 miles 5x a week!

January Well-Being Challenge:   Eat Veggies! Double your current intake.

Think about the number of veggies you get in a day/week and try to add more each day. We will alternate between a healthy eating goal and a mental/personal well-being goal (again, we will keep it a surprise!)

Our Personal Goals

We have also decided to create some personal goals. We will update you on our successes and failures at these too, so it might be fun if you want to share your goals with us!

Natalie:  I’ve set three goals: one personal, one professional and one health.  To help me succeed, I’ve set monthly mini goals for each.

For example, here are a couple mini goals to help me be a more connected friend: in January I’m going to write one “thinking of you” card to a friend; in February, each week I’m going to invite a friend over for coffee.

Personal: Be a more connected friend.

Professional:  Make Mom Upside Down and the MOPS group I lead bigger, more focused
priorities.  (Or rather stop procrastinating so much!)

Health:  Run a race with my husband each month.

Courtney: I have set three types of goals too, but slightly different categories. To help me remember and stay focused I have at least one daily, one weekly and one monthly goal

Kindness:
1. Write a thank you note/card to a someone each week.

Personal:
1. Write down something I am grateful for each day.
2. Read 52 books. I have been doing this for a few years now and since reading is
a love of mine, I want to keep it a focus in my life.

Fitness:
1. Complete our monthly fitness challenge.
2. Be able to do 1-5 unassisted pull-ups!

————————-

We hope that you will join us in our monthly challenges and would love to hear about your goals for 2015!

Your UpsideDown Moms,
Courtney and Natalie

Jeff Sheldon
